Nonfiction Publishing Trip to New York

International Publishers to come to New York to learn about American Nonfiction and to meet their American counterparts

The German Book Office and the Frankfurt Book Fair have invited a group of international publishers, editors, agents, and rights directors to come to New York from May 26th to the 31st, in order to get some insight into the American Nonfiction market and to attend BookExpo America (BEA) The group consists of a diverse mix of different nationalities, sizes of companies, and careers. with: Laurens Ubbink, Editor, Ambo Anthos, Holland; Nina Arrowsmith, Managing Director, Arrowsmith Agency, Germany; Frits van der Meij, Senior Editor, Athenaeum–Polak & Van Gennep, Holland; Han Yan, Chief Editor, Cheers Publishing, China; Xiao Hui, General Manager, Cheers Publishing, China; Luke Sun, Senior Consultant, Cheers Publishing, China; Jutta Willand, Rights Director, Eichborn, Germany; Iris Brandt, Rights Director, Kiepenheuer & Witsch, Germany; Astrid Barth, Head of International Media, Wissen Media, Germany.

The Trip:

For the first two days, the participants will be visiting the American publishing houses Abrams, McGraw Hill, Norton, and Oxford University Press. The group will also view presentations from a number of other American publishers, as well as visit a bookstore, and the offices of Publishers Weekly. The final two days will be spent at Book Expo America, where they will have face-to-face meetings and the chance to attend BEA’s educational program.

By the end of this trip, both, the Americans as well as the international participants will have met their counterparts. This will hopefully widen and intensify their international contacts, and facilitate global cooperation.
